Rooted in the legacy of Kyle J. Guyton

A gifted artist, vibrant leader, and passionate believer.

The KJG Summer Performing Arts Camp seeks to inspire and equip the next generation of performers to use their God-given gifts to impact the world through the arts. This immersive summer program will offer youth an opportunity to explore theatre in a safe, faith-filled environment where creativity, community, and Christ are at the center of every experience.

Through this program, students will not only build their skills on stage but also deepen their character, develop lifelong friendships, and encounter the transformative power of storytelling.

Led by brother-and-sister duo Sharon Thompson and Pastor A. Thomas Hill — directors of the annual Upon This Rock Passion Play for more than 40 years — the KJG Summer Performing Arts Camp is committed to inspiring and equipping the next generation of creative artists.

With decades of experience in theater, music, dance, stage production, and performing arts ministry, Sharon Thompson and Pastor Hill are passionate about passing on their knowledge, excellence, and love for the arts to the young and gifted within our community.

The camp also honors the legacy of Kyle Guyton, who faithfully contributed his talents in stage production and technical support for the annual Upon This Rock productions. His creativity, dedication, and heart for the arts continue to inspire this vision and the future artists it seeks to impact.

Targeted Participants

• Grades 4-12 (all skill levels welcomed)

• Priority given to students with a passion for the performing arts, especially those with limited access to arts education.

• Open to the local community and surrounding areas, regardless of church or school affiliation or experience level.

Program Objectives

• To educate and empower young performers through hands-on training in acting, music, dance, and technical theatre.

• To foster spiritual growth and character development by incorporating moral principles and devotionals into the daily curriculum.

• To honor Kyle’s legacy by creating opportunities for young people to grow as artists, leaders, and people of faith.

• To strengthen the bond between KJG, UTR, the local community, and families by offering an impactful, affordable summer arts experience.

Culminating Event:

A full-scale student-led production or musical revue open to the public, hosted in the UTR Theatre
